May 1, 2012
We’ve re-vamped our case studies page on our website and added 2 new case studies that showcase some of our more recent work.
The re-vamp ensures that it is much easier for you to find a relevant case study if you want to see work completed within a specific sector, either pool, splash, play or golf. Of the two new case studies, one highlights our work within the golf sector; working on both sloping and level pathways at Purley Downs Golf Club and the other shows intricate design work recently completed for Ustigate Waterplay at Barking Park splash pad.
Feel free to browse the case studies page by clicking here. We hope that these give you a flavour for the quality and range of our work, but please do also visit our galleries pages for more photos of work we’ve recently completed.
Rubbaflex Goes 3D!
February 28, 2012
Flexflooring pride themselves on installing smooth, seamless and ultimately level surfaces. However, some projects have a completely different remit and a recent water play installation for SSP Water & Play required an undulating surface incorporating three separate water channels.
Luckily, irregular and curved surfaces pose no problem for our Rubbaflex safety surface, which can be hand trowelled by our team of experience installers both horizontally and vertically over any shaped object whilst maintaining a smooth, seam free finish.
The brief for SSP Water & Play was to refurbish a tired, old paddling pool, adding new interactive features and water play tables. In order to help create the look of the seaside required, Flexflooring installed two separate colour mixes utilising bright blue for the water and a mix of beige and eggshell for the beach. The flexibility of our safety surface meant it could be easily installed around the rocks and wet play equipment. The overall result is an effective and eye-catching design.
Steve Newland of SSP Water & Play commented, “The surface looks great! We have worked with Flexflooring on a number of projects and we know they offer the right product for the job. It is not only safe, but colourful too. The finished installation totally rejuvenated an old paddling pool and local parents and children are thrilled with the new wet play area.”
Flexflooring launch two new products at SPATEX 2012
February 14, 2012
So how was SPATEX 2012 for you? Thanks to those that braved the weather and dropped by to see us on the Flexflooring stand.
If you didn’t make it to Brighton this year, you missed out on two new product launches by Flexflooring. The first of these is Stonex; a ‘Resin Bound Stone’ system. The range includes quartz, marble and natural stone aggregates encapsulated with specialised light stable resins resulting in a smooth and compressed surface that can be used both externally around pools, for pathways and driveways and internally for kitchens, bathrooms, conservatories and offices.
The Flexflooring STONE brochure, which gives more details on Stonex, is now available on our downloads page.
The second product launched at this year’s SPATEX was Flexiseal: an innovative two part flexible epoxy resin, which has been developed specifically to fill porous rubber crumb surfaces, such as our Rubbaflex rubber surface and prevent water permeating through the surface. In essence, the material helps to make our Rubbaflex rubber surface act more like a tile in terms of porosity, but keep the rubber crumbs properties of being flexible, non-slip and soft under foot.
It was developed from an established range of swimming pool coatings, is chlorine resistant and UV stable. It has the added property of strengthening the bond within the crumb and is ideal for areas that may have been exposed to excessive levels of wear from constant waterfall, i.e. fountains, spraying equipment etc. Flexiseal is available exclusively via Flexflooring and further increases the versatility of our Rubbaflex surface.
Do get in touch if you would like further details of either of these innovative new products from Flexflooring!
See you at SPATEX 2012!
January 27, 2012
The new posters are in production, the new leaflets are being printed and we are dusting off our glad rags in preparation for SPATEX 2012, which runs from Saturday 4th to Mon 6th February 2012 at the Hilton Brighton Metropole Exhibition Centre. More details on the exhibition can be found at www.spatex.co.uk.
As well as getting the lowdown on our fantastic Rubbaflex safety surfacing and UltraTuff™ non-slip pool and deck coating, this year you can get all the information on our new surface called Stonex. A great alternative to Rubbaflex, Stonex is a ‘Resin Bound Stone’ system ideal for high traffic areas in both domestic and commercial settings, indoors and outside and within both wet and dry environments.
The range includes quartz, marble and natural stone aggregates encapsulated with specialised light stable resins resulting in a smooth and compressed surface that can be used both externally around pools, for pathways and driveways and internally for kitchens, bathrooms, conservatories and offices. Stonex is so versatile it can even be trowelled vertically, giving additional options such as skirting to compliment the finished surface. Logos, motifs, figures and safety lettering can be easily incorporated and we can even offer Stonex with both a porous and non-porous finish depending on the installations requirements.
We will also be launching Flexiseal: an innovative flexible epoxy resin that can be used to seal our Rubbaflex safety surfaces to make them virtually non-porous. Flexiseal is available exclusively through Flexflooring and further increases the versatility of our Rubbaflex surface.
So come along and say hello – you will find Flexflooring on stand U113 on the upper floor. We look forward to seeing you!
Our Rubbaflex Safety Surfacing gives a new lease of life to a domestic pool surround
October 12, 2011
Flexflooring recently completed a domestic project transforming a tired pool surround consisting of patio slabs into a new stylish yet safe Rubbaflex surface.
The original patio slabs had been in situ for a number of years and as well as looking unsightly, were dangerously uneven. In addition, the copings were also stained and unsightly. The installation of our Rubbaflex safer surface allowed the owners the opportunity to create an entirely different feel for their pool surround by introducing coloured rubber. The clients decided on a popular Flexflooring mix known as Arctic, which comprises of equal parts white, light grey and bright blue and has the overall effect of cool, calm water, tying in perfectly with the swimming pool and contrasting well with the surrounding flora and shrubbery.
In order to install Rubbaflex, the slabs were lifted and removed, allowing the area to be screeded. This provided a new stable base for Rubbaflex and increased the size of the pool surround in the process. The coping stones were also re-laid and jet washed, allowing Flexflooring to install Rubbaflex over the cantilever of the coping to the top of the liner lock. Continuing the Rubbaflex floor over the coping as well as the screeded pool surround creates a totally seamless look, which is unusual yet appealing.
Simon Hubble, Flexflooring’s Director commented, “Our Rubbaflex product, can be trowelled both horizontally and vertically making it one of the most versatile safety surfaces available on the market. In this case, it offered our client a viable alternative to installing expensive new coping stones.” On completion Flexflooring’s clients are left with a flawless surface, which looks great and is slip resistant when both wet and dry.
FlexFlooring Overcomes a Vertical Challenge!
August 31, 2011
Following on from work completed in Hackney last year, our name was put forward by a landscape architect Adam Shepherd, to help transform a domestic garden. With clean white walls, large planters and our Rubbaflex surface in 100% green EPDM granules, the finished installation looks funky and modern!
This Flexflooring installation also highlights the versatility of Rubbaflex, given that it was trowelled both horizontally and vertically to cover a high wall, benches and steps leading into the garden, along with the patio floor. The look is achieved by applying a special adhesive to vertical surfaces, which allows the rubber to create a strong bond.
The end result is a contemporary looking space, which ties in with the rest of the garden design and has the added bonus of ensuring the patio is non-slip too, making it an ideal area for young children to play.

Work undertaken by Flexflooring at Guildford Lido is covered in Building for Leisure publication
June 29, 2011
The recent project undertaken by Flexflooring to refurbish two paddling pools at Guildford Lido has been covered by Building for Leisure. You can see the coverage by clicking here and then going to pages 38/39 of the May/June 2011 digital edition.
The Lido owned by Guildford Borough Council and operated by Spectrum, is set in four and a half acres of landscaped gardens and includes a 50 x 27 metre Olympic sized heated swimming pool, plus two children’s paddling pools, each one an impressive 33 metres long and 3.6 metres wide.
Rob Price, the Marketing Manager of Guildford Spectrum Leisure Complex highlighted the impact of the changes, “Guildford Lido is one of the original 1930’s Lidos built in the UK and still retains its period charm today. The 50m heated outdoor pool attracts over 50,000 people during the season and a significant percentage of users are families with young children. The Flexflooring brief was to enhance the children’s paddling pools ensuring customer safety and comfort for the seasons to come whilst being sympathetic to the architecture of the pool surrounds. Flexflooring delivered their promise and although given tight deadlines, including bank holiday working, the works were completed on time and to a high quality specification. The feedback to date from staff and customers has been extremely positive.”
